I don't know if anyone here would know, but do you know how long recovery time is for a vasectomy and if it is extremely painful? My boyfriend would like to know. We are pregnant with our 4th child and are thinking about getting one after this one is born.

I just got mine 31 hours ago (Yesterday afternoon). No pain yet. Well, it kind of hurt for a fraction of a second when they applied the anesthetic. But that was about it.

Today it feels kind of "heavy" down there, but that is about it. No pain.

Update: It is now Saturday at 9:30 am. I got my vasectomy about 42 hours ago. If I walk around a lot it hurts a little. There is no sign of bleeding. I can't see if there is any bruising because I am afraid to look that close.

In the USA alone 1/2 million men get vasectomies each year. It is very unlikely that they would do so if the surgery hurt or there was a long recovery time.

I walked out of the office, drove myself to Blockbuster, and Walgreen's on the way home. That was on a Friday, and I was back to work on Monday.

It was a piece of cake. Recovery time was 2-5 days. I have no scar. You would never know that I had the surgery.

I'd do it again, if I had to. It would not matter if it was painful. Any amount of pain is better than an unplanned pregnancy.

From what I've gathered...most surgery is conducted on a Friday, with the weekend as recovery and "able" to go back to work on Monday...modern techniques apparently allow for an extremely small incision so this lessens recovery siginificantly.

My vasectomy was painless and uneventful

3 years down the road the complications of the vasectomy resulted in my testicles having to be taken out.

The surgery is easy...just sometimes it does not go well.
The orchiectomy was easier than the vasectomy was.

Normally back to normal in days.. Have a support for the package.. and a bag of frozen peas! They help with the swelling.. Sex is the same as before, but just use protection until dr. clears that sperm is gone

They can walk out after the procedure..Sore but they are not down for alot of time...I believe my hubby was very "carefull" for about four weeks. He was so excited to get the procedure..I don't think he cared about the pain at all. He didn't seem to be in pain.

let me see...is it better for a woman to have her abdomen opened up, an unwanted pregnancy, or two tiny incisions and an ice bag for a few hours. you delivered how many children and you can ask about him? it is his turn! tell him to step up.
