Friends that I have here that are from Michigan (Kalamazoo/Lancing) don't regret it one bit. It's a few of them and they haven't considered moving back especially now with the crazy economy there.

Tempe and Scottsdale are good places to get your feet wet for a musician in Arizona, and if things get really good for you, L.A. isn't too far from here.

I can be... I mean you are away from the snow, but in the summer you get the heat (and you can always put more clothes on, at a certain point, you can't take any more off). But you are 2 hours from mountains, 5 from Vegas, 4-5 from Mexico and 5-6 from San D.

For school reasons, I would stick in Tempe or Southern Scottsdale. Maybe Western Mesa. Pretty much anywhere East valley would be better. And the green stuff... yeah, illegal here too. But there are a lot of bands that come out of the East Valley, Peacemakers, Jimmy Eat World, Gin Blossoms... so there is a lot of opportunity there for that.

There is nothing wrong with Michigan, other than the fact that the favorite state pass-time appears to be knocking the state. Yes. the economy is terrible. But, it won't get better by complaining about it.

After you move, expect a couple of things: 1. You will still be a struggling musician who wants to spend his time (and money) smoking pot and complaining about everything. AND, 2. You will, once you get yourself straightened out, wish you were back in your home state.

But, for now, I'm content knowing that you will no longer be a part of the problem anymore for real Michiganders.

Your departure will help the rest of us succeed here in Michigan. So, please... Leave. But, when you don't succeed, don't blame your home. Blame yourself.

The green plant is taboo here too, but you will like the winters, the summers are tough, but once you have been through you are a native.

You'll find great winter weather and very hot summers. There is plenty to do. However that green plant is taboo here too.
