Therefore they are thinking I'm stupid. Now, I don't know everything about cars, but I know my way around enough to do some things myself, and I know what is wrong with my car. Here's the problem. I took my 91 civic into the shop to get an alignment. They said that the right front camber was maxed out and that it would pull to the right, but not burn the tires. I know that's wrong. If it pulls it will burn. I got frustrated with them, took the car home and let my husband deal with it. We took the car for a second opinion and got told that my inner tie rods were messed. They are fine. So back to the first place again. Told them to do it and do it right this time. I was told that now the upper ball joints are worn, and thats whats making the car pull. They were fine last time I took it in, but now (2 months later) they are worn very badly and if I wanted to spend god knows how much they would find me adjustable ball joints and put them in for $40 an hour instead of $75 and that will sto

p it from pulling. Also, I need new tires, that's partly why its pulling also. ( I got new tires 2 days ago.) I asked why it was pulling before when the ball joints were fine and I wasn't able to get an answer from them on that one.....so basically, thanks for reading this.....anyone else think they are trying to get money out of me because I'm a girl?

how are the tires on the rear of the car wearing? This vehicle has toe adjustments in the rear and may require a 4 wheel alignment to correct your tire wear problem and the pulling. A front end alignment will not correct your tire wear problem, depending on the type of alignment machine the garage you are dealing with is using. Some alignment machines set the front adjustments by reading off of the rear wheels, therefor, if the rear adjustments are out the front will also be out.

I think you are seeing a bunch of moronic mechanics. First Camber, then Inner tie rod ends, then ball joints? What is this guess until you get the right suspension part that fixes the problem? Did they test the ball joints? If so, ask them it the upper ball joints on your vehicle are load bearing or following? Ask them if they are neither? Ask them HOW they tested for this. Ask what indicates that the inner tie rod ends are damaged?
I swear, if I were to ever have a place try this crap with me, they wouldn't hear the end of it from me.
Its sucks, and i don't think its just because you are a woman, I believe that the people you took it to are completely stupid.

Two things, never trust a mechanic you don't know; I had a remarkably similar problem with my first car; I was told that bearings in the engine's crankcase were going bad, and that I'd need a new car, when they were still good as new. That aside, you should also take your car to a good friend you know and trust, who is knowledgeable in regards to cars. The fact that you need new tires may be a partial cause for your car's misalignment, so new tires should somewhat help that. As for the tie rods and camber, I'm not too sure about that, but try to find a good friend of yours that does.

yep
take it to a reputable wheel alignment mob and start again
tell them nothing of the past
just tell them what the driving problem is and let them report back.
it be best to have new tires on when you take it.
Just dont drive much on the new tires as once they start to wear crooked, you cant stop it. So when you put on the new tires you have to get it fixed.

They may be trying to get $ out of you, but probably they would do the same to a guy (been there , had that done) When you find a good/honest repair shop (cheap or expensive) hang on to them

i think so. i think alot of people get taken advantage of at car shops if they dont know anything about cars. they can just tell you that something is wrong and youll have no idea what their talking about so youll pay to get it fixed.
