reason Americans are no longer "sheeple" and speak out against stupid things concerning them and their country? The media used to jump on anyone voicing an opinion about something they thought was bad for their family or the country, but not anymore. Is this what is waking up Capitol Hill?

Stern has had people on there in the old days that said stuff everyone wanted to say but were afraid to say, since Jackie left I don't listen as it's a racist show.

Right- Crossfire was great. Where is Novak. Tucker has a show. Ms PW87- you have never listened to Savage or u would know he isn't a Bush man. Don't listen to others see for yourself.

This makes my point, I stated that these people have made a difference. Rush of late the "troops" thing. $2.1 million, liberal media lie to ruin him. O'reilly the African American cafe thing, agian SOS, Savage, well he could care. All speak their mind about things that we in one way or another would like question and the liberals cannot and won't be able to stop them.
Point in case I was attacked as being a neo con and follow everything they say. That's hogwash. Much I could careless for, but many of the ideals Im there, but still there's no room for compromise.
That's what is so great about these answers, it proves that the left has lost and people actually can make their own minds up. To be honest i did listen to alittle of Air America, but it was just too radical, leftwing, whinny, backstabbing and misleading, oh and mean spirited. Not that Ann Coulter hasn't said some pretty bad stuff also.
Then again her book Godless shows what the demos are and that's not my take

Here's the funny part is Ilisten to Rush once in a blue moon.Shouldn't Reid have been doing his job then that garbage based on a lie? Good thing 2.1 million for a good cause. Savage is not a Bush man and I listen to him as he is entertaining, but not much. A fs sister flew in from California and told Savage was insane. As she talked he had him on and she agreed with "that guy', it was funny whenwe told who he was, she said her friends told her. Yes Hanniety, O'reilly are stumppers, but I do back O'reilly because he gets thingss done like liberal judges and scum that hurt children exposed! The point is that these people, including Coulter are attacked for some BS off the wall stuff like the lie about Rush and the troops. No wonder the demos are so screwed up if they believed that. They broke ground that if you say what you feel stick to your guns. Without them testing the water, the old news would have branded anyone against amnesty a racist. Great answers!

Rush followers are known as dittoheads since they repeat verbatim whatever he says. If that doesn't equal sheeple I don't know what would.

I think so! People have stopped blindly believing the liberal media and are questioning their agenda.
Why do you think the liberals are so upset about talk radio! They want to silence the Conservative side. I thought it was despicable what the media and congress did to Rush.
Anybody with a brain that read the whole statement would realize that the media and espessialy Congress has their heads up their *****. I glad he auctioned off that insulting letter that was signed by all those gutless wonders (e.g., Hillary, Obama, Reid, Boxer, etc...)
In fact, because of talk radio the Senate's amnesty bill was defeated. Talk radio got the word out and the Senators we deluged with calls.
For example, "Feinswine" said she would re-look at her position if she got a certain number of calls (I think it was around 30k). She received many times that amount and refused to talk to anyone.
She also claimed that the callers were insulting. Maybe they seemed insulting to her since they were angry at her position and she wasn't listening.

I find it hard to take you serious when you use phrases like "sheeple" -- that's just a buzz word used to shut down dialogue. Why can't people articulate their points without trying to insult the people that disagree with them?
I am conservative but O'Reilly and Hannity and Savage only talk to one side... they really don't seriously want to discuss the other side. They control their own shows but are never on any other news shows.... which shows that they don't want to be on a show that they don't control. That is completely fine but they aren't objective or even make an attempt to be objective. They live in a vaccuum.
People will say that they often invite the opposing point of view but if those people refuse then they call them "cowards" but they won't take invitations themselves. That's hypocritical. The opponents that do show up usually look unprepared and unhinged... if those opponents start making sense then they are often shut off or told that their time is up.
Like I said, I don't have a problem with it but it is not the news.

Short answer: Yes.
Longer answer: Hell yes.
Long answer: Of course. Why else would liberals demonize Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'reilly, Sean Hannity, etc? Why else would liberals scream from the mountain tops the sheer irrelevancy of Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'reilly, Sean Hannity, etc?
The simple truth is "mainstream" media doesn't even deny their own liberal bias anymore. They proudly preach their political agenda. Sure, you'll see an occasional denial, but its half-hearted and half-assed. As a result fewer people are relying on the "mainstream" media for their news. CNN, MSNBC, all three of the network news broadcasts, major newspaper subscriptions are all going downhill; fewer viewers and fewer readers. At the same time, conservative talk radio and Fox News is growing exponentially. Liberals will tell you "mainstream" media is down becuase more people rely on alternative media (web journalism, blogs, e-mail, etc). But that doesn't explain the growth of talk radio and Fox News.
In reality the new media scares the living hell out of Liberals because they no longer have a monopoly on the news.
As for Howard Stern, he's simply a shock jock that'll say anything he needs to say. He isn't in the business of news or information (from any political viewpoint).

In my town we have one radio station. G.Gordon Liddy, O'Reily,Hannity,Lars Larson, Michael Reagan, and an occasionally that other guy that got busted for drugs and some guy named Savage. All back to back...unless it's sports! Now I gotta' ask 'ya....is this some kind of hard sell or what? ALL of these guys stay pretty much on message with hardly a quiver of variation. This is called propaganda. Worse, 90% of their 'shows' are ad hominums, red hearrings or strawman arguments. Tonight, Reagan was going on and on about how well the war was going. Holy #$%^ Batman...it's a #$%^ing WAR...how well can a WAR go? People get killed and maimed, blinded, deafened, brain damaged and emotionally destroyed. All of this using borrowed money! Has anyone thought about how all this moola is going to get paid back and out of who's pocket it's going to come? This war can 'go well' for the next decade or even a generation....that doesn't mean much to me. Here's something 'stupid' I'm going to speak out against.....the entire Bush Junta that got us into this mess and the brown-nosing right wing talk show bozos and FOX 'News' that insist on keeping it going. According to these bums everyone 'not them' is a commie, a socialist or a 'liberal'. Buy a clue..3/4 of the American public must be commies, socialists or 'liberals' because that many people know for a fact that this 'war' is totally bogus and it's not 'going well'...it's going badly and always will!

It's a big part of it. For the longest time, the mainstream media was portrayed as the only voice and opinion in America. Now we are seeing that there are lots of people who do not want to hear the crap that the mainstream media feeds the public everyday. Personally I hate how everything in the mainstream media is so crisis oriented.

I don't know if it's waking up Capitol Hill or not but it's probably making them quake a little. It was these media outlets that spread the news about the illegal immigration bill they were trying ti sneak through. The people heard and answered the call to put a stop to it.

anyone that thinks they aren't having an effect just needs to look at all the crap that came from the usual suspects in the last month.
Both Dirty Harry Reid and Surrendering Jack Murtha denounced radio talking heads from the floor of the senate.
That shows me how afraid they truly are.
Then Dirty Harry gets the letter together and 40 other senators sign it.
They are literally shaking in their boots.

Without talk radio, the internet and Fox News people would have no choice but to believe crap like the lies in the Dan Rather story a while back.
I remember when we only had the Big 3 to rely on. I now know we were all walking around like zombies.
