* Low temperature
* Thin air
* High altitude

RU serious? Hey it's ok not to know things at least you have the courage to ask. Well Mount Everest it's difficult to climb because it probably has the highest elevation in the world. Yeah and the higher the elevation the lower the amount of oxygen, which we obviously need for...well everything. It's really really steep and cold, so frostbite and other sicknesses able to get from extremely cold weather. That's all I can think of right now.

Because it is very high and rocky and there is little air to breath, also some times pretty cold and if there's a lot of wind then this can blow you off as there is nobody you can hold on. You need to carry your food and drinks as there are no restaurants or bars on the route. There are people who had the idea to open places to rest, but there are still not enough tourists because of the difficulties, so there is another idea to build a lift, but the permission for it is rejected from the local authority. The next idea is to build a tunnel into the mountain and then go up with an elevator. Now with laser technique this is possible and easy. So you can look forward for your research paper...

Low temperature
Low pressure (low oxygen content, difficult to breath, feeling sleepy)
Harsh climate
(If your right cheek is getting sun then your left cheek should be getting the shade. The sunny cheek will have sun burn while your shaded cheek will be chilling cold.)
If you felt any of these thing in your town then you would want to go to your home/apartment. But the main job of the climbers is to Climb.

Because the air is thin and it's steep.
Take a look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mt_Everest for more information on Everest.

It's cold, hard to breathe b/c of the thin air, and it's a really long climb

it is difficult coz u have to go against gravity and higher u go the oxygen content decreases. due to gravity it is difficult for a person to go upwards so many people have met with accidents leding to their death.
