Go to a local lawnmower shop, and ask about used mowers. A couple of advantages are that you can get it serviced where you bought it, and they know more about it than a pawn shop or over the internet.

You can try the classified ads, craig's list. Also visit a few repair shops. Sometimes people can't pay the repair bill and leave good mowers behind that the shop sells cheap. You might try a pawn shop, beware of junk. It's the end of the season in most areas and you will probably find a deal. Good luck and good mowing.

If I were you I would not buy a cheap walk behind mower. It will only have problems and you will pay more to keep it up and likely you will have to spend money to have it repaired. If I were you,I would look into buying a used Scag walk behind mower. I have one myself and there is nothing else on the market better. Make sure you buy one that has had regular oil and filters changed before you buy it though.

Used? Garage sale or Craigslist.

New? Clearance at a home improvement store or Sears. It is off season so "last years" models are clearanced. Sometimes they have returns from folks who decide they wanted bigger/ larger cutting blade etc. Or even refurbished that will have warranty.

Good Luck!

Take a ride into the country any weekend and there are many sitting in peoples front yard/ driveway for very little money. Or try CheapCycle in your area.

Try a local pawn shop. I know it sounds bad, but sometimes you can find a good one at pawn shops.

If you were near my place I would give you one. I have several that I have collected from freecycle.
