I doubt they go thru those things with a fine tooth comb but as long as you are legally divorced I don't see why it would matter. Although I can tell you I've been married three times and have never been asked to show a copy of my divorce papers.

Courts keep records. Just get in touch with the court house records department and tell them you need a copy of your divorce papers. They may charge a small fee.

If you lie on your application for marriage license, sooner or later it will be caught....plus, the marriage would not be valid. If there was ever any problem with divorce, inheritance, medical matters, you two would not be considered married.

Take the time to do it right.

Not telling the truth can cause further problems down the road in the future. Why would you have to show proof? Too whom? Are you talking about a dating site?

Always be honest, that way you won't have to lie and be found out later and be embarrassed or called a liar.

You can go to where you got the divorce and get a copy of it if you have to. Better to do that than not tell the truth.

Its bad. Whether or not they now give you grief, the old guy has rights. Until that divorce is finalized things like do not recessitate orders, social security, and not to mention maybe a big chunk of the current "hubs" expectation that he is actually legally your husband, are in the hands of your current husband (the first guy).

The IRS might hunt you down, or give you serious tax-related grief. Do you want to be liable for debt or back taxes from the first guy?

Oh oh that's bad.... at the court house in the county you got married is the license and you can get it for a fee... You are getting married under false pretenses and the marriage will not hold up in court.... Good luck

It's easy enough to get a copy of your divorce decree from your county clerk's office. I don't know if the marriage application process entails investigating your answers...I'm interested to know if the new guy knows you were married before.

Best of luck on your new adventure!!!

It's not good to falsify paper work. Just call the city hall and ask if they require that they see documentation of the resolution of your last marriage, if they say no, than you are fine!

What's the big hurry? Do it right or it won't hold up in court.
