The local FOX affiliate ran a story on Kevin Youkilis, who went from obsurity in Mason, Ohio, to the World Series with the Boston Red Sox. The pictures of him in High School and with the University of Cincinnati showed a puny kid. Now I know a man grows into his body between 18 and 25, but come on!
Are we looking at a future story of needles and performance-enhancing medication?

Just noticed that spellcheck didn't catch "obscurity".
I'm not assuming anything. Just placing the facts out there and asking the question - which is what this site is for, isn't it?

Being honest, before the scandals, pretty much everybody was juicing. Even the commissioner new about it, that's why he shy's away from it now. The only way it comes out now is if a doctor or trainer gets caught or some pussy player writes a tell all book and screws his brothers and writes about it to make a buck. Chances are you suspicions are correct.

Your'e looking at a kid who's worked hard to get where he is. Maybe there's a story there, like there could be with most major leaguers, but lots of little guys grow a lot and work out a lot in that time frame, and this has been his job for years.

Your hate all over this board for the Boston Red Sox is fine. It's what drives you. But don't slander a very hard working, very dedicated, highly gifted practically error-free first baseman and hitter.
Do you think that professional athletes come pre-packaged? They must work constantly in the weight room, on the track, on the treadmill, in the batting cage, in the field for fielding practice, and in the media room for videos of opposing players.

This is getting out of hand. Everybody thinks that a player who gets better is doing roids. It's just ridiculous. I'm a Yankee fan, and I dont particularly like Youk, but I see no reason whatsoever to think the guy is juicing. He's just a good ballplayer. Speculation like this without any reason just puts a stigma on a guy's career that he doesnt deserve. PLEASE dont do this to players unless there is a reason. Just asking the question starts rumors and can ruin a guy's career. Very irresponsible in my opinion.

Well, he is the Romanian Jewish God of walks and timely hitting, so that is a gift only the man from above can bestow upon a person.
