I like to learn new constellations and look for shooting stars, but am having a really hard time finding a location that is dark, has a good view of the sky, and where I will not be disturbed. I live in Tampa, Florida. Any other amateur stargazers out there?

Try to locate your local astronomy club. They tend to know all the best local observing sites. You can probably find them through the first source below.

Another way is by using the Clear Sky Clock web site. Start with the Clear Sky Clock of your location, and then look at the local light pollution map. This can show you what direction to travel in to find darker skies, and may even have some specific sites marked on it. That is also in the source below.

Hi. Just find the darkest site you can. Look to the west over the Gulf.

Contact MOSI. They have evenings where you can go up on the roof with an astronomer and use their telescopes/
