I'd rather see Wake in relief ANYDAY!!! Your opinion please?
GO SOX!

Wake's thrown some decent relief even though he's a starter. Is he hurt? Didn't seem it from his comments.
Gagne's been a disaster.

LOL double dee! I was thinking of Wake giving up his start to not burn through the sox 'pen in 2004 vs yankees when the sox were getting their butts kicked. Plus he was on track to win 20 this year til he got hurt. Just wondering if he's STILL hurt.

Gagne shouldnt pitch in a red sox uniform again in his life. he shouldnt be trusted even with football scores. Wake is hurt I think. He is the kind of player that tito wants out there if he could be. He has gone with him in the past without hesitating, and this year has been one of wakes best years as far as wins go in a while. I think wake is kinda hurting and is going to call it a season. I really dont care as long as he pitches productively next year. I ultimately want to see him break the red sox record for wins which should only take like three more seasons for him to break if he pitches subpar. I dont think it is the red sox choosing gagne over wake at all, I think it is them having to not play wake, and gagne is just there to fill a spot. he shouldnt be in any game nomatter waht.

the biggest reason they took gagne over wakefield is because wake is still suffering from back spasms. also what doesn't seem like a big deal is the fact that the high altitude and thin air will definitly affect wakes knuckleball!! it won't do what it does when he pitches here at fenway or in other stadiums in the northeast. thats why they are keeping the gameballs in a humidor before the series starts out there. gagne will not pitch much but might mop up a blow out or a game they are getting killed, which will not happen!!!! sox in 2007....

Well, the Sox are smoking some good weed!

Man, this is a good one, Gagne over Wakefield.

We all know Gagne is junk!

I don't think Gagne will even pitch unless one of the games goes to extra innings and they pitch him in the 16th before Manny pitches!

No way. A healthy Wakefield is much better, but he is no good if is his back is hurting. Even Gagne would outpitch him if he even tryed to pitch hurt. Why would anyone want someone to pitch that is hurt? Why risk that player of getting worse over like 1 inning in relief.

Gagne reminds me of Embree, almost every time he throws they lose, unless the Sox are up by an obscene amount. I'd rather see Wake on the mound any day! At least there is "Wild Thing" (hot stuff) Jon Papelbon!

The reason they picked Gagne over Wakefield is because he has been having problems with his right shoulder. Also they think the thin air in Colorado would negatively effect his knuckle ball.

2003 ALCS Game 7

Bottom of the 11th inning. Tie game. Light hitting Aaron Boone at the plate.

Now tell me you Sox fans wouldn't have rather had Gagne back then.

Wakefield has shoulder problems. I think he would be better in short relief. Gagne may be ok in situational outings 1 or two batters.

Unless they are using Gagne to mop up in games with football scores, Gagne should not be used at all. Don't they remember game 2?

They would have put wakefield on the roster, but he is having major back problems. yes, gagne is have problems but he is the best of the other pitching options they have
