Leaves of vegetables have stomata that water can evaporate. The leaves lose freshness and become limp. So people in the grocery store have to spray leafy vegetables with water to maintain their freshness. Roots and fruits (radish, cucumber) do not need to be sprayed.

Humans have no mechanism to remove excess sodium, and therefore can not drink sea water. Sea birds can.

Sugar takes water out of strawberries by osmosis.

1. Because it makes the veggies shiny? Because there are pesticides?

2. Yes, because it would raise the level of salt in the blood too high.

3. Ummm...the sugar attracts the juice?
