now for starters keep in mind i dont care if the transmitter works as an ipod charger...

the first one is called "Monster Cable RadioPlay 300 FM Transmitter " it plugs into the headphone jack..

the second one is called "Monster Cable iCarPlay Wireless - FM Transmitter " and it plugs into the iopd charging port on the ipod. (this one charges too but i dont care)

what one would be more practical for sound quality, i live in a busy city, there is no tape player in my car.. this transmitter is my only route

thanks - jay

whichever ones has the most power per Mhz.

You're going to need one that can override whatever static-filled station you preset in your car.
They are both using the same kind of technology. Both are taking over for your radio antenna. It really becomes preference. Where or how do you want it to connect to your ipod.

I would say go for the one with the radio jack only because there are times when moving the ipod from one part of the car to another (from the seat or center console to the dash board) actually helps the signal. so if you can move the wireless transmitter you may be able to clear up a weak signal sometimes.

www.ilounge.com routinely reviews iPod things, and I don't recall that they particularly liked either model. www.amazon.com also accepts customer reviews.

Here is iLounge's list of FM transmitters by ratings: http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/reviews/sort_grades/C204/204
