Most everyone would agree that you should never judge a person, like or dislike someone, based solely on their name. That would seem totally illogical. Yet, how much effect does name recognition or, in this case, potentially negative association/connotation to a name have on the way people vote in this country?

Unfortunately, it is a disadvantage for him, or that his middle name is Hussein. And yes, a disturbingly significant portion of the American public votes illogically according to the phenomenon of name recognition.

There are groups of voters that assign a negative connotation to Obama simply because of his given name. Then again, there are also groups of voters that assign negative connotations to candidates simply because of gender, race, religion, and sexual orientation.

And I was always taught to vote according to who best reflects my political views and who I believe is the best person to represent the leadership of this nation. Silly me.

His full name is Barack Hussein Obama, which Fox has been repeating all year long. Considering the fact that most of the voters are morons (and if that wasn't the case, the Democrats and Republicans wouldn't be in office), Obama is at a severe disadvantage because of his name.

You know what, Mitt "accidentally" called Obama "Osama" (and corrected it) recently. I think it was underhanded if on purpose, but I'm not going to throw the first stone. I once confused Romney with a credible candidate.

The links below are what I found in 5 minutes of searching. Pretty blatant, and I don't even support Obama.

you may have heard this story:

Chelsea Clinton, daughter of the former President, was assigned by her professor to interview General Petraeus. She asked him if there was anything he was afraid of?
The General replied: Little Chelsea, I am afraid of only THREE THINGS:
Osama
Obama, and
YOUR MOMMA

it seems Osama and Obama both pose different threats.

Personally-I think he could use that as a campaign slogan:

Why vote Obama?
He'll hunt down Osama!

Yes, and the fact that both are non-white and Muslim.

I can't think of a worse handicap for a presidential candidate, especially after 9/11.

I believe only illiterate and dyslecsic people can't get his name correct. Most people who are educated and know how to read can.

You know, I've actually wondered about that, but I really don't think anyone would not vote for him because of that!
