Capitalism is not a good system. It creates competition and eliminates equality.

Surely someone shares my views?

Just because I agree with communism, doesn't mean I want to live in North Korea.
Nobody needs a reward for excelling. No, we are all equal and should be treated as such! That is the truth!

Competition brings out the worst in people. Do we really want to enforce that?

Well, so many crazed capitalist supporters. Never thought there would be so many...o.O

In a capitalist country, some people are dying of hunger, while others waste their money. How is that fair? Why should the government label such-and-such as "better" than another person?

All communism does is make everyone who lives under it equally miserable. EVERY time it is tried!

If you study communism you will find that not everyone is equal. Only productive people have any value. If you are weak or sick or old you have no value and are treated as such. It is a stupid system created by fools and sold to the gullible.

Capitalism is a success, every time it is tried. Sure there are rich, poor and everything in between. But the important difference is that you do not have to accept your lot in life. You can improve your life if you have the dedication and choose wisely. There is always hope for a brighter tomorrow in capitalism. In communism there is no hope. The way your are today, cold, hungry and tired is the way you will be tomorrow or ten years from now.

I started out with just a high school diploma. Worked many entry level jobs at first. Now, thirty some years later I have a good job, own my own home, helped my sons purchase their homes, own properties, have three cars, take a nice vacation every year. None of which is possible in a communist system.

Now what should I do? Lament the fact that some people have a lot more than I do or every will? Or should I look at how far I can progressed and be grateful for the system that allowed me to achieve my goals? I choose the latter.

Mmmmm....I'm not sure that it would even work. Communism in its ideal form, as envisioned by Marx, was a great idea, especially for its time (which was early industrialization and all the horrors that came with it), but practically, it just didn't live up to the ideal, which was, in my opinion, due to human nature. Humans are too selfish and too narcissistic to truly establish a society of equals.
A little more social welfare would probably not hurt the US, though. Sweden, though great, might be a little too much to handle for the individuality-oriented US person, but (West) Germany in the late 80s, early 90s would probably not be too bad an example to follow.
The thing that I wonder is how many of the answering people that bash on communism actually lived under a communist or even a socialist regime. It would seem to me that it must be all of them or how else can they be the self-proclaimed experts on communism that they claim they are? Actually, I wonder just how many ever read anything, even a Wikipedia article, relating to Marxism.
One message folks: Just because you disagree with something doesn't meant that you have to bash it; read up on it, figure out why do not disagree with it, then give a reasoned counter-argument to it.

P.s. Floyd G and ep50: kudos for the well-written answers.

Don't take 'em seriously, JJ.

You're not alone.

While many of the crazed "moneygrubbing is good" and "the rich deserve it" lunatics CLAIM to be for "democracy," if a mass socialist party got elected many would immediately show themselves as the elitists they are and work to violently overthrow an ELECTED government. That's where contras come from.

And the rest would do whatever the herd is doing. "Baaaaa.... I'm a unique individuaaaaaal." Right now they listen to FOX, or to the liberals. If the majority of the population was Marxist, they'd be "Marxist." THOSE are the types that help a Stalin overthrow socialist democracy.

The die-hard rightists are not a real danger right now. The owners of USA, Inc. haven't decided to go fascist and let the street scum run things. After all, in that case even some of the corporate elite themselves could get hurt. They only let the dittoheads into the government when WE get strong and they're worried about losing control. So right now the Board of Directors of USA, Inc. (Congress) and the CEO (president's Executive Department) is merely stuffed with hypocritical liberals and brutal conservatives. The rightist nuts are just the cheering section.

But they sure are annoying.

Oh, and your question? YES. And so would the rest of the world.

Here's the truth. People were NOT created equal. Some are smart, some are dumb. Some are skinny, some are fat. Some like to work hard, some like to sit around. This is why communism will never work. People are rewarded for how productive they are to the society they live in. I know there are rich kids who inherit it, but at some point, someone in their family provide a good or service that a lot of people wanted.

No. Communism has never succeeded, so why would it succeed where it is hated?

"Capitalism is not a good system. It creates competition and eliminates equality."

That's the point. Competition is important for a strong economy and a healthy nation. Equality of all people is a myth. People aren't born equal and they won't magically become equal just to make liberals feel good about themselves.

We are all equal in that we have the right to LIFE, LIBERTY, and the PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS and that is where it ends. If you choose to sit at home on your lazy butt and not have a job I shouldn't have to pay for you. If I have the drive to educate myself, work hard, and take risks then I should be rewarded for it, not held back in some 2 bit economic system like communism or socialism.

It saddens me that someone who actually lives in this country could ask a question like this. Communism has failed everywhere its been tried. You talk about equality? The only equality under communism is EQUAL SUFFERING! In a self governing capitalist system like ours equality exist only in that your condition is EQUAL to your effort and work ethic. I suspect that your problem with our system is that you want more than you have but are not willing to work for it, you want something for nothing. What you don't realize is the great opportunity we have, although you don't get anything for nothing in America, you do have endless opportunity if you will just dream it and then WORK for it. Under communism you can work all you want and the fruit of your labor will just be taken and redistributed to those who are less ambitious.

What is with these communism in America questions lately?

Do you really want to know what Communism is like? Then go to the very few countries that still follow it. Go to Cuba, Vietnam, Korea, China...no forget China, they're already moving towards capitalism.

Capitalism has balancing factors, which ensure equality with proper government supervision applied minimally. Equality in this case is anyone who works hard to improve their life can. Not equality as in I just sleep all day, and I'm just as good off as the guy next door who puts in a 15 hour work day. Capitalism's competition also fosters quicker advancement, which also acts as a balancing factor. Although, this answer will probably be lost on you, since you're obviously fishing for a pro-communism viewpoint.

Communism works in a perfect world. However, we don't live in a perfect world. We live in a world with people who won't go to work and put in 100% of their effort. We live in a world where people abuse power. We live in a world where communism will fail every time it is applied as the economic system of a country.

Also, FYI, lots of people died in China and Russia due to starvation, a lot more than have died in the US.
