Citizens should be involved in the government as the watchers of the government....we elect them...we expect them to honor their obligations and govern properply and not abuse their power.....thats all....if nobody watches the government they always become corrupt....other than that the citizens are too ignorant and narrow minded to be allowed to have any power higher than the power to vote for who runs our government.....else I would still be drinking out of a "Blacks Only" water fountain

Yes we should be, but the young & are not that concerned, the married with children are but alway working and don't always have time, the elderly just go with the flow because life is different than whenyour young.
We all need to attend town meeting in large numbers, we all need to keep a close eye on the elected and appointed. But I feel most people have lost confidence that they can make a difference, maybe we should start up talk groups to understand what we need to say and to, because maybe they don't want us snooping around and we should.

Because we're supposed to have a system of checks and balances. But it seems the current administration doesn't think so.
Without holding our lawmakers accountable, there is no reason to have elections. It's pretty much the way it is now. In chaos.

So they have an impact on the things that will affect their lives. People often complain about government but they don't vote. They aren't active in campaigns, etc. But they are the first to complain if something isn't the way they want it to be....
