The term 'rocket scientist' is usually used as a generic term for a very intelligent person. You can't spot them by sight, but start up a meaningful conversation and it will soon become obvious. They can obviously be found at their workplaces, conferences, and so on. Mensa (see reference) organizes local, regional, and national gatherings, so that would be a good opportunity. Most gatherings welcome visitors. Those who work at balance in their lives do ordinary things. They don't all wear glasses, and the pocket protector has been replaced by the PDA.

"Rocket scientist" is a popular expression that really doesn't mean anything.

People who work in the aerospace industry include engineers, scientists, administrators, teachers, writers, pilots, technicians, menial workers, and, in short, just about any occupation you can think of.

If you mean the most advanced engineers and scientists, they may tend to live pretty prosaic lives, though I know a couple who run marathons or hang out with the local Harley Davidson club.

But most of them walk their dogs, take their kids to the zoo, mow their lawns, clean out the garage... things like that.

So it can be hard to spot one. If you live near an aerospace installation, you might try the local bars or something like the Country Club.
