Right now they are asking donations to go to the American Red Cross. Be aware, if someone calls asking for donations do NOT give your information. It is most likely a scam. Which is disturbing but apparently it happened during the cedar fire 4 years ago. If you can't make it in to the Red Cross they do have a secure web site that will accept donations.

I pray for everyone suffering from this fire. I was evacuated but am now safe in my home. I do however now people that lost their homes and all you are in my prayers.

A donation to the Red Cross is a great idea. If the Red Cross gets more money than they need to handle this tragedy - they will be able to use your donation to help folks out who survive an equally bad tragedy that does not get as much press.

Donate directly to the Red Cross or the Salvation Army.

Keep in mind that most of the people affected by the fires are not millionaires but normal middle class working folks. The San Diego and Canyon Country (north of LA) fires tore through suburban tract housing.

They could use all the help they can get. Insurance companies are going to try to weasel out of covering these people.

Keep your money, I gave money for 9/11, it was to give aid to survivors. Not for them to become millionairs, never again.
