..
why is the United States in such a mess? Huh?.
.
can you answer that?
.
or are you afraid to admit to the truth, the truth being that you don't know so much after all?
(and before you assume, I'm not a "dude"
I'm a young woman; not your ordinary woman either)

OInce again, I ask that you do not assume. Thanks to wonderful parents I have traveled to many countries all over the world. I have seen the best and I have seen the worst. I speak mainlky of your government, your people, who have allowed one man to make you amongst the most hated...I speak of a former leader amongst leaders who giggles his way through death and destruction that he has caused; I speak of you..supposedly wise, who have allowed such a man to dictate a failed legacy for all in the United States.

wit
it was not your place nor the place of bush to decide on ANYONE's form of government. It was not his place to attempt to westernize the Iraqis. NBor is it the decision of anyone other than the Iraqis themselves.
In other words wit?
it is sometimes best to mind your own business...
or if you feel you can make at least a dent..
to try dialogue...
oh
sorry
your president seems to have a bit of a problem expressing himself unless he is feigning closeness to some God or another or
is laughing.

OK young woman.
Here's the deal.
Old farts like me have a living comparitive which you could benefit from.
You say: "the United States in such a mess"
Compared to what?
I won't go through all the hardships I went through as a youngster, I'm sure you have heard enough of that and are bored with it and refuse to accept it because it does not change your view of now.
Let's look at some points of reference that you might understand.
I remember the look on my parents faces and those of my neighbors when we could go outside in the evening and see a bliniking Sputnik in the sky.
I remember learning to duck and cover for the nuclear attack that everyone was sure was coming.
I remember my father and neighbor discussing how to build a shelter and how they would share the cost.
I remember the Cuban missile crisis.
I remember the day the President was assassinated.
I remember his assassin being assassinated.
I remember race riots.
I remember federal troops being sent to arkansas, alabama and Oxford Mississippi.
I remember civil rights workers being assassinated.
I remember Martin Luther King being assassinated.
I remember Bobby Kennedy being assassinated.
I remember Malcom X being assassinated.
I remember my cousin coming home from Nam a person I could no longer talk to.
I remember my father, a veteran of the Normandy invasion, crying and my mother collapsing on the floor when I got my draft notice.
I remember veterans being spit on.
I rememer 58,000 deaths in the longest war of US history.
I remember POW's in Hanoi
I remember Jane Fonda toying with an anti aircraft gun in North Vietnam.
I remember Kent State
I remember anti war riots.
I remember Watergate.
I remember a Vice President resigning in disgrace
I remember a President resigning in disgrace.
I remember several attempts on President Fords life
I remember my mother saying, 'this is like the depression' when Carter was the president.
I remember Egypt and Israel at war.
I remember double digit inflation and double digit unemployment.
I remember hostages in Iran
I remember gas lines.
I remember driving 55
I remember three mile island
I remember Regan being shot.
I could go on and on and on.
Nothing that is going on now even comes close to what went on before.
Young woman, this country is in the best shape it has ever been in. I don't expect you to see it. I do expect that you never be satisfied and work toward making it better. You owe that to those who came before you. But, have the sophistication to put it in some perspective. Get yourself a point of reference so you are not so spoiled and arrogant.
Be thankful for a minute for what is good.
We are not in a mess if we SAY we are not in a mess.
Don't be so damned negative.

He has the basically right speech author. he's charismatic. he's a standard baby-kisser, who delivers substitute basically to get elected. He won't do any of the flaws he promised. He strays from "old politics" because of fact he's barely a Jr. Senator, with little or no experience in economics and foreign places coverage... apart from African, because of his father's ideals. he will make a mockery of this us of a by means of the worldwide. I certainly do now not understand why all of us would help him. Our us of a is headed for a racial war.

After you live long enough you become grateful that things work, instead of worrying that things are not perfect. Most of human history people spent their lives trying to get enough to eat, and they still do in much of the world. Although there is a lot not to like about the US right now, there was also a lot not to like when I was young. You do not have to worry about WW III, or see signs that say white and colored next to drinking fountains, or look for a job in the Help Wanted Men Classifieds because women are assumed not to do your occupation.

Anyone can be educated, but wisdom only comes from years of experience. I'm somewhere in the middle, between younger and older, and I can tell you that through years of experience, your views will change. I'm sure mine will change more as I continue to get older. Our older citizens are much wiser than you give them credit for, and remember things that you have only read about. We're not as much of a mess as you might think.

Dear Extraordinary Young Woman,
Maybe it's because older people have lived through enough history that we see patterns and trends repeated.

So, if life isn't perfect (in your humble opinion) you want to claim to be superior to whomever you can blame for the imperfections.
Try this:
There is a place where dissenters are fed into wood chippers feet first (they scream longer).
This is defined as "Bad"
We now have a war in which this place is forming a Democratic form of government where dissenters AREN'T fed into wood chippers.
This is defined as "Better, but not perfect"
Since it's imperfect, please describe who failed to achieve perfection had how, in your world, they should have acted.
(Hindsight not allowed)
