A bleak portrayal to be sure, but dated, and slanted,
perhaps.

In terms of the very, very rich, the dwindling middle class,
and the under class, arguably little has changed in recorded
human history.

But don't forget, we now have PROPERTY rights.
And that's a big, big, difference, and a promise
of some measure of wealth for everyone who strives, and attains property ownership.

In a TV interview, I heard Ralph Nader asked, "are we really better off today ?"

His answer, "in a word, modern Dentistry."

In the current context, one could very effectively
make a compelling argument, that the present
enlisted ranks of the US armed forces, those in harms way,
on both fronts (soon to be a third ?) are comprised obstensively of pepole from rural, and economicaly under developed parts of the country.

Interesting enough, black American enlistments are way down, in this war, to their credit, it seems the perception and memory of their disproportinate sacrifices in the equally futile Vietnam war, is still vividly remembered.

LuvUall, Ba-bye.
