yeah i try to eat really healthy. i grab any fruits i have for a snack and i love love love vegetables!! good ways to get all five servings are incorperating the servings with your meals. For example, add a few lettuce leaves to a sanwich that you have. Or add tomatoes to your salad. And potatoes don't count because they are considered a startch.

Potatoes are classed as a starchy food like breads. Weird isn't it. Most days I try but it ain't easy. With my dinner I always have 2 veg and in the mornings a glass of pure fruit juice so I suppose that's 3 and some days I might have fruit. Depends really on the mood. §

I have fruit on porridge or breakfast cereal, and a glass of fruit juice. I also have lettuce, tomatoes, and olives with oily fish and toast for lunch. Then, salad with the main evening meal, or frozen vegetables. The evening meal will be home cooked using onions, peppers and garlic. So I probably eat around 8 or 9 portions of fruit or vegetables on some days.

Uh.... Potatoes DO count..... They are a veggie.

And in reality, most people do get it because we eat large portions (what we eat = 2 plus portions).
Example: I don't eat only 1/2 cup of cooked pasta which is what the food pyramid says a portion is.
Another example: I eat maybe 1/2 cup of mashed potatoes, a small salad, 1/4 cup corn, at dinner. That is 3-4 servings and there is your whole days worth of veggies.

Potatoes are a starch?

I make sure to have some sauteed mushrooms, onions and peppers with at least one meal a day. I try to make fresh vegetable juice in the morning, have some fruit at lunch and a salad.

-Darn, that is only four!-
