The Industrial Revolution began in a bunch of different places independently at a bunch of different times, each at its on pace. The place people associate with the beginning of the Industrial Revolution is Great Britain, however, because it industrialized early and relatively quickly. However, Britain wasn't evenly affected by industrialization and certain areas industrialized much more quickly. The northern counties, which was where textile production was based, industrialized more quickly than did areas which retained essentially rural economies until late in the nineteenth century. Industrialization was slow and patchy, even in Great Britain, and wasn't so much carried to other countries as it grew up in them relatively organically as new technology and equipment became available.

Most people say England, but in America (both before and after the Revolution/Rebellion) industrialization was also going full swing! New England states had plenty of water power to drive the looms, etc that were the heart of the Industrial Revolution.
And don't forget that it was in the US that Fulton demonstrated the first steamship! Eli Whitney demonsrated the cotton gin, and so many other industries' new technologies!

Mike, you nailed it. The Industrial Revolution is generally considered to have begun in England when James Watt made the first really practical steam engine.

Midlands. Birmingham / Manchester. You can see huge abandoned factory-halls there.
