First, let's look at facts. You're wrong, the Spurs home court AT&T Arena did sell out for the two Finals game played there. They did not sell out the first game of the Western Conference Finals. They were 400 tickets short. There were 18400 people there instead of 18900 people. Every other game was a sell-out for the games before and after that one game.
When you talk about ratings you are only discussing the US TV ratings. The NBA Finals were a global event. The game was shown all over the world. Can you tell me what the ratings were for the world? If you don't know, why bring up the ratings for the US only? You're only telling a part of the facts.
People like to point to the US TV ratings being low for the 2005 Championship (which the Spurs won). However, globally, the 2005 NBA Championship Series was the 4th most watched sporting event IN THE WORLD.
This is late October 2007. The Finals were over in June. The #1 merchandise sold at the NBA online store is STILL Spurs Championship items. That's because the online store serves international buyers. The NBA Store that is located in New York City also has lots of international buyers. The #2 item in for walk-in buyers is a certain Spurs logo t-shirt.
Tony Parker's jersey is the #3 selling jersey in all of Europe. Since 2002 Manu Ginobili's jersey is the #1 selling jersey in all of South America. Tim Duncan's jersey is the #14 selling jersey in all of the US. Spurs gear has been in the Top Ten of NBA items sold since 2003.
When you wrote "I don't think anyone wants it except Spurs fans..." you're probably right. What you may not have realized is that there are lots of Spurs fans ALL OVER THE WORLD.
So, yes, those fans really want the Spurs to go to the NBA Finals.

No I don't want the Spurs to go to the NBA Finals im not a Spurs fan am a Phoenix Suns fan and yes I do think the NBA wants them to go back the NBA shouldn't have suspended Amare and Diaw I though that was unfair the NBA didn't do nothin when Bruce Bowen kicked Amare Stoudemire and when he kneed Steve Nash in the groin and also when Tim Duncan and Bruce Bowen walked into the vacanity of the court I thought the Phoenix Suns was cheated out of a championship last year.

David $tern could always use he's handy dandy $tern Button on the Spurs to get the message across the officials to change the course of the game. A lousy ref call here and there, and before you know it its a 12 point swing for the opposing team. He better used it early in the game though to snuff out the Spurs chances of winning because if Duncan and co. gets momentum, it would be very difficult for the refs to cheat SA out of the win.
(I never fully understood as to why people think the Spurs are boring.)

Personally, I would not. They have little appeal outside of San Antonio, and their strict adherence to basic fundamentals reminds me of a high school practice squad.
Also, given their history, it's likely they will fail to defend their title this year. I am expecting a 2nd round exit at the latest for the Spurs. The 2 other Texas teams will give them a run for their money this season.

Yes!
They are the most experienced, culturaly diverse, deserving, awesome team in the league. You never hear of them in the middle of scandlas and they are the most honest team there. They never trash talk or show bad character. They are the good guys that no one likes because they don't have a Kobe, Shaq, or Dirk; they don't have one star player, they truely play as a team. I love my Spurs and want a true dynasty GO SPURS GO!!
They are deffinetly not a boring team and as far as I know home Spurs games are packed, WE LOVE OUR SPURS!

Outside of a possible New York or Los Angeles connection, I really believe the league couldn't care less who makes it. Their attitude, I'm sure, is "...may the best team win."
As for me, why not San Antonio? They're a great team and organization.
