I will accept the apology because you guys just shamed me into it.
However, my policy has always been that the apology should be accompanied by a promise to never do anything that stupid again. In fairness, I didn't hear the entire piece of time he had on the floor so, I will give him the benefit of the doubt.
Apology accepted but, please don't ask me to like it or to ever trust him again. Democrats should join me in that.

I would say this is perhaps the biggest difference between the way Conservatives and Liberals act.
A Liberal will continue to snipe and make nasty comments, but a Conservative will take a calm and measure appraisal of the situation, and, when it is warranted, accept a genuince and sincere apology.
Since Pete Stark did the right thing, with both dignity and humility, we should embrace his change and hope he continues down the righteous path.

Yes, I am able to forgive him. But did he cry and apologize because he knew what would happen if he didn't? Am I suspect? Yes, because he has said some pretty horrible things in the past, and this may have been the straw to break the camels back.
Hopefully, people will see him for what he is and vote him out.

In the Lord's Prayer, we are instructed to pray to be forgiven our trespasses as WE forgive those who trespass against us. Yes, we should forgive Congressman Stark. Let me draw a parallel here. Burglars broke into my house and stole property worth upwards toward $3k. When I pray, I pray to be forgiven my trespasses as I forgive those who trespass against me. I forgive the burglars, BUT, I still want my property back and I want the police to capture them and punish them so they will stop stealing other people's property and so they might live an honorable and productive life. NOT because I want to see them suffer. In that context, I forgive Pete Stark, but I believe that he is unsuited to that leadership position and will continue to harm our servicemen and women through his partisan attacks upon anyone that disagrees with him. I would like to see him change his ways and become a Christian, but I hold no hope that will ever happen. So, I would like to see him replaced in Congress next year.

Forgiveness, yes. But Stark showed his ignorance to the
world by his insensitive remarks about Bush enjoying the
entertainment of men getting their heads blown off. He and
Harry Reid (who also makes irreverant remarks about the
president) should just resign. I'm sure they are an embarras-
ment to the Democrat party (altho 41 of them signed that
stupid letter trying to get Rush Limbaugh fired from radio).
Rush is 100% patriotic, but I now have my doubts about
Reid (and Stark).

An apology accepted.
I understand the way the mouth can run before the brain can catch up.
Just keep the phrase "Once bitten, twice shy" in mind the next time he runs his childish mouth....

I have to say, I respect him for having the courage to apologize. It's always hard to admit you were wrong, especially in public like that. Kudos to Starks!!

People say a lot of stupid things when they're passionate about something and don't measure their words carefully. I think we're all guilty of it. As ugly as his comments were, he's apologized. Lets move on.

I hope he is sorry for falling for the anti-American hate mongering the Dems enjoy. When will Kerry, Pelosi, Reid, Murtha, et. al. apologize for their nasty comments against OUR military!

No. His attacks clearly mark him as unstable. Apologizing does not make him fit for office.
