Well, for Baton Rouge, Louisiana, how about association? For example, "Rouge"-think of the makeup women apply. so, Rouge is for LOUISiana (Louise, get it?) That helps me.
for Jackson, Mississippi, same kind of thing, but a sentence (this is how I remember things) ex: "Jackson, Miss Isipi called..." you get the idea...good luck!
