People called you toll because in the past, long distance phone calls made from rotary phones or pay phones were called "toll" calls. You had to pay extra (a toll) to make these calls.
And when you made a "toll" call, you always began by dialing the number 1.
We still begin long distance phone calls with a "1", but since most of today's cell phone plans treat long distance calls no differently than a local call, (in terms of cost) the term toll call is rapidly fading from use.

A "troll" is someone who intentionally and persistently posts inflammatory messages about sensitive topics to bait users into responding or provoke a confrontation. We also consider people to be trolls when they persistently misuse product features such as the ratings system to negatively target others.
