When my kids were little, I used to buy them a whole bunch of presents because I was the only gift giver for them.
My ex husband was a dead beat and never bought them a gift for anything.
All their grandparents died except for my dad who was in a nursing home and has since passed away, and they did not have anyone but me.
Now my son is 22 and my daughter is 19. I dont want to over do it. What would you do if they were your children? They both moved away and come home quite a bit.

Let me put it this way. My parents split when I was 11 years old. It was the worst time of my life. Neither had much money and did the best they could. As I got older, it seemed my sister got more because she lived with my mom in the end and I went from one family members home to another. I am not sure how many gifts you got your children when they were younger and being raised differently does make a different. But in the end, you have to think, they are older, they are either in college, or have a job and because they are older (if they were mine) I would buy a few things they need and maybe 1 or 2 things they want, especially since it's probably expensive.

Not sure if this helped.
