Given that the developed World has a need for the raw materials of the undeveloped World, and that the peoples of the undeveloped World live mostly under the various tyrannies which we support in order to obtain them would it not be more honest and humane simply to overthrow them and the Medieval religions which they practise and develop their societies in exchange? We are going to use our weapons to take what we need anyway so why not just be honest about our intentions?

Yes I have been in combat, not in Iraq but for the same underlying reasons..strategic national interest. The basic unit of exchange in human relations has not changed since the Roman Empire, and before..force. I'm just tired of the same old hypocracy which see's the powerful killing the weak without the courage to admit its reason..blatant self interest.

Altruistic imperialism is an oxymoron. Call it what it truly is - greedy imperialism and unfettered capitalism to benefit the elite.

And everyone all ready knows why the West goes to war or tries to subvert some nations (whose resources they covet) and could care less if massive genocide goes on in others.

that's the bad taste in the mouth of the western world. lying to yourself is like a cancer. it will eat away at you slowly but relentlessly. i know what you are saying. and i agree it would be more honourable to stand up and be counted for the true reasoning behind your actions. but the politician is a particular kind of beast. honer, honesty integrity.....the trash we vote in would rip out the heart of their own mother for position power and wealth. their intent is to serve themselves. they wouldn't know the meaning of such words. they walk on paths of lies and deception laid freshly on a daily basis.

Sooner or later the 'Imperial' factor would become corrupt and extreme capitalists would continue the exploitation.

Oh please. You know very well what you really want to do is just take advantage of third world countries, then kick em to the curb after you're done with em.
