for instance i have a hp computer, emachine monitor, gateway laser mouse, gateway or sometimes another brand of keyboard, and a hp printer. is that good or will it somehow affect my computer?

There is no company that manufactures a complete list of parts a computer uses.Every company specializes in different areas.They follow standards so each one is compatible with the others.

It will be just fine.

They are all standardized, they are made to work that way.

For example, I have Samsung monitors, Logitech keyboard and mouse, a computer I built comprised of AMD, ASUS, Corsair, XFX, Thermaltake, Lite-on and Antec parts with a Epson printer.

No problem with that. Even your HP computer contains different brands of parts since HP does not make motherboards, processors, hard drives, etc. HP usually use ASUS motherboards.

Different hardware brands shouldn't effect your PC performance. It's neutral.
