In India, so long as the communists still have a say in the government at the center, fuel costs
will continue to be subsidised even if the price of oil hits $100 a barrel because they don't have to pay anything from their pocket. The middle class tax payer foots the bill very conveniently.

Many of the state, city and town agencies do subsidize throughout America.I think you should have been more specific as to which fuel you were referring. Oil companies receive many government subsidies mainly through depletion allowances. as for individual families those at the poverty level or less should not have to suffer cold.

fuel costs are currently subsidized by the USA's massive defense spending (a misnomer....should be call 'offense spending). Additionally - the true cost of fuels has yet to be calculated. When every coastal city in the US is flooded, THEN we may know the true cost....

The US government does, a lot. Compare the prices of fuel in the US to other nations and see where we are, we have it pretty good actually.

No but they should ease the tax burden on it. ON every gallon of gas, the government makes 10 times what the oil compnay does.
