Do you have any old jeans? People used to wear there jeans with the knees ripped out of them, or you could fold the inside seams ( at the bottom) in and safety pin them, I used to do that. The only other thing I can think of is to try and use bleach to make your jeans look acid washed. (that was an ugly type of jeans)

Bottom Suggestion: Back when I was in middle school (in the 80s) we used to "peg" our jeans. To do this you, first, pull and fold the leg of your pant near the bottom (height-ways) pulling it as tightly to your leg as possible. Then, to secure the vertical fold, cuff up the bottom of the jean once or twice. (use as small cuffs as you can). Jeans were all about being tapered at the bottom.
We used to then, if you were really cool, pull our neon slouch socks over the cuff. :-)
Also, a short denim skirt with tights or leggings would work, too.
Hope this helps!

You could wear leggings with like blue tube socks over them and white/any color sneakers. Match your shirt/jacket with the socks =D. Just a suggestion, I don't really know about 80's. I'm just remember what I've seen my aunt wear in old pics from then =D.
If you have/make a t-shirt that says "Relax" on it, that would be great. That was a really popular song from then.
Hope this helps a bit!

i wore nothing but pegged guess and jordache jeans. white denim was very popular as well. to peg your jeans, fold a little crease right above your ankle and roll it up twice. then add some slouchy socks, and keds or other canvas shoes without the laces.
then wear some gigantic tent of a t-shirt, preferably ripped at the neck line so that you can wear it off one shoulder and a pony tail off to one side with a scrunchie thing and bangs poofed up as much as possible.

I'm pretty sure that in the eighties they cut the collar off t-shirts...sort off off shoulder, leaving one shoulder intact, but the other one with it's top cut off. They had head bands and leggings and leg warmers and chunky necklaces. I think .I can't get 60's and 70's and 80's all straight.
