Donations to the Red Cross help. Also the Salvation Army -- they are handling food and supplies distribution to evac centers.

Also the Horizon Emergency Fund -- they have a big effort going at the Qualcomm and other centers.

If you do donate to a charity -- make sure it is one approved by the State of California or FEMA -- in every disaster, there are also those who try to commit fraud by posing as fake donation sites.

I have been praying for the people of California. Wow... what a devistation. They said those fires are forcing evacuations from North of Los Angeles...through San Diego... all the way down to Mexico. The fire fighters are scared that it will not be stopped until it reaches the ocean. That is horrible for the people of California.

We are going to have to do like we did for Katrina. Get community based groups to pull together and pool resources help them out. Some will need to relocate to neighboring states and depend on the kindness of strangers until they can rebuild their lives.

Here in Missouri, we have adopted many people from Mississippi and Louisianna .... they just came here and started over. About half don't plan to go back. Employers here with a kind heart gave them jobs and the community found places for them to live as soon as they hit the border of Missouri. We were waiting for them and already had plans in place. People opened their homes and moved people in, church groups helped them get their own place as well as furnishings and clothing. It can be done.

Yes. It is called federal tax dollars.

I don't know of one, but I am sure you could donate to the red cross if you want to do something now. There will be funds set up soon. Right now I think it is too soon to know how the help in the best way.

Make a t shirt that says do not build your house in a furnace, that will do far more than any money will.
