We live in a rented house and tonight i have been sitting here at my pc working and i keep hearing a scratching sound like a rodent scratching or digging. It is coming from either the flooboards of the walls in my bedroom.I tried to crawl in to the cupboard in the airing cupboard of my bedroom to see if theres anything in there but nothing. There are planty of ohls where pipes come in and out. Luckily we do not have gas but we have oil central heating.

not sure what to do if i could get to where the darn thing is i could shot it with my air pistol but other then that i do not know what to do. We live right in the country so i guess it could be a mouse or a rat.

What can i do? i cant take up floor boards and knock holes in walls as this is not my house.

I would call an exterminator because if it is rats or mice they breed so fast you will be over run in a short time.
Look at the problem they have in New York with rats, I think it is something like 10 or more rats to each person. Scary.
Go on Google and type in rats and then mice, you will see just how fast they breed and how destructive and disease carriers they are.

Probably mice. Put steel wool in holes & around pipes to keep them from entering the house. Set mouse traps with the sticky peanut butter. If outside, sure your air gun. I personally am against the sticky traps (slowly die of starvation or thirst) or poison (awful painful way to die). I want rodents out of my domain, but don't believe they have to suffer (just go away or die quick).

There must be holes in the foundation for mice. Squirrels get in through holes in the overhangs (soffits) of the roof. The landlord should be made aware of it & see if holes can be patched and help out.

In the meantime, keep all food scrapes put away or in a garbage can with a lid. Do not leave cat/dog food out when pet not eating (will end up sharing with the rodent). Keep even water away from rodent (keep sinks/tub dry & nothing with standing water. No food or water, they won't stay either.

If the house isn't sealed properly, squirrels and rodents could have access to your walls. This is something your landlord needs to be aware of and take action. These critters do damage and leave waste behind. Your landlord needs to call in a critter control company to check out the home.
