SEC vs. BIG TEN?

Does anybody believe that if OSU had the schedule of any SEC team, they would still be undefeated?

Don't get me wrong, I think Tressel is one heck of a coach.....but it was once said that you have to face the best to be the best. I am no SEC fan, being a Golden Domer (and therefore, quite miserable right now)...but they are still unbelievably strong as a conference. They are alittle down from previous years, but only the PAC 10 is even close...and they still got a ways to go.

I really don't think that OSU could beat LSU, Florida or Kentucky. They have a very good defense....but we have seen last year year, that what is very good in the rest of the Nation is average compared to the SEC defenses....Look at the ridiculous speed Florida had against OSU, which just overwhelmed them...after supposedly rolling thru the nations "Best Defense" against Michigan.

The simple fact is that yards dont tell the whole story. The Caliber of the team you face tells far more. I know all the OSU fans with their Scarlet and Gray colored glasses on will be pissed by this, but tough. Play a stronger schedule, and your team will get BETTER, and earn their ranking...and maybe not get spanked like a red headed step child when they face their first REAL team in the Championship game.

The Only Defense that seems to come close to the SEC standard is thos SOB's from USC. Just ask Michigan. (or my pathetic Domers.....not that it take much to beat them these days)

That said.....what would beat them is their own QB...the only 2 halfway decent teams he faces this year, and he start making turnovers. 3 against Purdue? Be about 8 against Auburn or LSU.

I have said this a million times, so this will be the last. The big ten has a winning record over the SEC in bowl games the last 5 years, and the sec record against other BCS conferences this year is 5-5. They aint that great. The SEC seems to have OSU's number, however, since they are 0-8 in bowl games vs SEC competition. Other than the national championship last year, if OSU is playing an SEC team, then it isn't a great OSU team(since the good ones go to the rose bowl or NC game.) Maybe that means something, maybe that doesn't. Tressel is pretty much universally considered a top 5 coach in the country, and OSU has more players in the NFL than any SEC team, so I don't see why they wouldn't be just as competitive in the SEC as they are in the Big Ten.

I don't think one conference is better than the other. Michigan goes to Florida and wins. Wisconsin, Had it not been for bad coaching at the end of the game Prolly should have won too. Ohio st and Lsu is a toss up.I think the big ten gets a bad rap and maybe just maybe the sec is overrated. Do u think Florida or The Vols could have come to Ann Arbor or Madison on a cold winters day and won? I would have liked to see it,LMAO.

The problem is OSU nvr played ne 1 of those teams, its hard to say what would of happened, they could be undefeated or winless, who knows. Some other teams in the Big 10 could get wins over SEC, it just depends how you play on gameday.

no, just as I wouldn't think that LSU would have survived the Big Ten in many other years....just because the Big Ten is down this year, doesn't mean they won't be better than the SEC, and any other conferences in years to come....just except your good conference play this year, and in years to come Big Ten fans won't ask the same question about an SEC team

here is a great question for you, would the Patriots or Colts be in the Super Bowl every year if they went through the NFC....how about those same Patriots and Colts 10-15 years ago when Dallas, San Francisco and Green Bay were dominate....things change

Why don't you compare head to head results. Everybody thinks the Big 10 cant hang with the SEC. We hear it every year. Since they haven't played each other yet this year lets compare the past years.

After Florida spanked that A$$ for them, it should be obvious that there would be NO WAY IN HELL OSU would be undefeated in the SEC.

Sure, why not, the SEC is just as watered down as the Big Ten, ACC, Big 12, Big East, and Pac 10. You cant prove it wrong, so why bother? Thats like saying the Patriots wouldnt be undefeated if they played in the NFC West.

The SEC has way too much speed for the slow big 10. Just watch what happened to Ohio State last year who I think is better than this year's team. Got killed on a neutral field. But I do really want to see them go to LSU or Florida and see what happens to them.
