A lot of believe that abortion is going against god's will. My question is if abortion is wrong why isn't getting fertility treatments wrong too. If god chose for you not to have children then that is god's will. If you go and get fertility treatments to be able to get pregnant isn't that going against god's will?

this is how it is GOd gives life and takes it away......(that isn't our responsibility)......so thats why we shouldn't have abortions; it is actually killing a thing that is already living......

We are also humans so things come up in our lives that keep us from having kids and so doctors have comeup with a way to help those who can't have children......and in the same token the world has came up with ways to get around the consequences of our sins through abortion............

think about it the only reason someone would want to get an abortion is if they are too young and should not be having sex, if they had sex out of marriage and/or if they are addicted to drugs and didn't want the baby to come out with birth defects.....so ponder on that one..........If there was no sin, then there wouldn't be abortion because nobody would have a reason to want to kill a baby...........

the world has changed so much......before it was unheard of for people to be infertile but because of people's lifestyle and daily habits it affects their body................

OMG....this is a subject that can go on and on...........

This question comes more into thought, when you look at the multilple births, not really the twins and triplets, but the 5,6,7,8, produced by fertility treatments. And then when the couple rules out selective abortion because of "gods will" , whichever way you stand on abortion, that statement seems to be hypocritical.

Then as to the "creating a life" answers above, whats gods thoughts on cloning? Thats creating a life too.

Well if you're simply arguing that its against god's will, then yes, your argument would stand true. However, I think most people argue that abortion is wrong because its killing a life, which is against god's will. At least fertility treatments you are creating life.

A lot of those folks who are against abortion based on it being against God's are also likely against invasive fertility treatments, too.

Those who are against abortion because it is TAKING a life wouldn't be upset about fertility treatments CREATING a life.

hmmm never actually thought about it that way. I am pro choice but the only thing I can say is with abortion you are taking a life and with fertility you are trying to create one. But thats a good point!

Yep, you are right. It is a totally hypocritical position considering the number of embryos that are ultimately sacrificed. But then, you'd also have to argue that putting a brain shunt in a newborn with swelling in the brain or doing heart surgery to save a newborn or even saving a severely premature baby falls in the same category-humans trying to defy god's will.

There are better ways...

I guess you could use this arguement with makeup, hair dye , nail polish etc. If God wanted you to have a colorful face wouldnt he have put make up on you? If he wanted your nails to be neon yellow wouldn't he have made it that? I think it's all about your convictions. I wouldn't murder a child (which is Abortion), but I don't see how being fertile and bringing a baby whom you love into the world is a bad thing..

That is an extremely good question. I have never thought of it like that and im pretty sure not many other people have either.
I have never been one to judge people who choose to have an abortion but for people who do this is a great point.
