Change the oil/gas mixture in the tank, clean the spark plug,clean air filter! Crank it over a few times w/spark plug out. Put in spark plug, and give it a go!! I had a 3 hp evenrude, that hadn't been started in 15 years, followed this pattern, and it started rite up. (got lucky). good luck

If the motor was working well when it was last started, and when put to rest had the plugs removed and WD40 sprayed into the cylinders. Just put it back together and make sure the mix is right and battery charged. If not then it needs to be serviced properly as that length of time will have had an effect on the motor and the impeller may need replacing and bushed checked. If you want to keep it then it would pay to have it serviced.

all i can say is change the oil, make sure the gas that you are putting in is new gas and not old gas because it turns into water eventualy and also spray some gas into the carborator
