Yes, my daughter and her friend (10 years old at the time) and in the church choir at the time, were messing on the stairs that lead up to the bellfry, consequently being told off by one of the bellringers. And rightly so, I hasten to add.

Yes. When I was at college (1980 to 1983) I shared a house with a fellow student who had an electric chip fryer. I made a comment about it and she said I may never be allowed to use it again. I thought I had dropped a clanger.
In her spare time she did hand bell ringing, and was pretty good at it.
