We have a huge pine tree that is about 18ft & are thinking about getting it removed. I would like it down before Christmas since I can no longer light up the tree. It's simply too high. I used the second largest telescopic pole that Home Depot carried last year; this year it won't reach it.

If we get the tree removed I plan on getting some PVC tubing and run the lights down it on an angle - which would be staked to the ground.

Any rough estimates?

If you know alot about this please give me different prices for different sizes in case it is really higher than I think...hope not!

Thanks in advance!

Please see the link below for a pic of the tree. You'll see it on the left side. Sorry about it being blurry.

In case you're wondering, our electric bill is low. We use mostly LED lighting which is about 70-85% less electricity.

Anytime you have an area of dirt only, your chances of weeds invading the area before grass does increases. I am not sure where you are located and what type of grass you already have. I am in Florida and when I removed some trees, I had a similar problem with bare spots. I have St. Augustine grass and a sprinkler system so I figured some topsoil was all I needed. I ended up pulling the weeds adding some more soil and putting sod on the bare spots and all perfect now. Another thing you can do is get the soil in that area tested, usually it's free at you local Agriculture center.

I see your problem. I've got three to come down. All you can do is get an estimate from several people. You are fortunate access is so good, that will help. The take down won't be difficult, you are paying for the clean up too! So depends on who's doing the work and their equipment, whether they are licensed, bonded and insured (I sincerely hope so in case someone is hurt, you won't get sued!!). I wouldn't be surprised at well over a thousand.....you have climbing or bucket work, disposal chipping and dump run, 3 workers and all the stuff that goes with that which is double , at least, their hourly pay, it won't be cheap........but not as bad as a technical take down! Oh yeah, are you going to have the stump ground out........well, double it.

Profesional removal of tree & stump probably $350. If you can get rid of the limbs and trunk via muncipal clean up or local landfill and live with the stump at ground level you can probably find someone with a chainsaw to take it down for $20!
