OSB is not designed for long term direct exposure. As a wall sheathing you can probably go 24 months if painted in a new england climate. Less rain & sun exposure = longer life.

It depends on the weather and the type of paint. OSB falls apart when it comes in contact with a lot of water. OSB also has a lot of nooks and crannies that paint doesn't always get in, but water will sure find it. These answers are all assuming that the appearance of the OSB is important. If it's on a shed, barn or something you just don't care about it'll last as long as a year or two.

I would make sure you prime it twice then paint it twice and would not use a low lustre paint.I would also prime the edges before installation.
I recomend alkyd paint too as latex will breathe a bit .
As well make sure you use the smooth side of the OSB is facing out.

Just my opinion though,good luck

Hi Hot, I'm not sure but I don't think it will last very long. Talk to someone in Lowe's or Home Depot and find out for sure!!

I dont really thing that long. you should treat it for weatherization like with Thompsons Water Sealer or something like that. But I am not real sure!
