Paul leads in donations from military voters, with Obama next

WASHINGTON — Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul, the congressman from the Houston area who opposes the Iraq war, has gotten more contributions than any other White House contender from donors identified as affiliated with the military.

According to a Houston Chronicle analysis of campaign records from January through September, Paul received $63,440 in donations from current military employees and several retired military personnel.

Democrat Barack Obama, another war critic, was second in military giving. The Illinois senator got $53,968 during the nine months.

He was followed by Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz, a decorated Navy pilot and former Vietnam prisoner of war, who received $48,208 in military-related giving. McCain has been one of the most vigorous defenders of President Bush's decision this year to increase U.S. troops in Iraq.

Hillary is funneling the money. Ron Paul is her Ross Perot. It's a big scam.

My guess is that the troops in Iraq want Ron Paul Elected to get them out of there.

This was after I was out of Viet Nam and out of the service. Nixon and Humphry were running against each other and had secret plans to end the war. Independently George Wallace was running with GenCurtis LeMay. I watched on TV. Wallace said he had a plan to end the war and said LeMay would give the details. Lemay simply said if elected he would give North Vietnam 2 weeks to get all hostiles north of the DMZ. If not Haipong and Hanoi would be vaporized by atomic bombs. That sold me on who to vote for. I suppose I am loaded with contradictions. I am against war. But I sure would bluff , terrify and intimidate. Considering LeMays record, only a comple3te fool would mess with him or think he wasn't serious. I didn't really care for Wallace, but LeMay might have been the greatest vice president in history.

I'm suprised at Obama's supports by troops.

But, of any I would vote for McCain. I like presidents with real military experience. He has lots, including 6 years as a POW. I don't agree with him on many issues, not even his Irqaq policies. But I respect him and know he would do what's best. And my opinionsc yielded for comparitave inexperience. He is definitely a military hero.

Ron Pauls biggest problem is he tells the truth (not exactly popular in this political climate).
GI's in Iraq know a little about the truth, that is why they like him.
He may be the best person for the job, but people don't like hard facts, they want to be catered to.
"Universal Healthcare", "Saddam's Weapons of Mass Destruction", etc. People don't want the truth, they want to hear what they want to hear, then complain when none of these things pan out!!!!
Ron Paul quotes laws, while most candidates talk in fairy tales.

the main reason the media ignores Ron Paul is that he's no longer a front runner. he's likewise to unrealistic. Like Obama, he's telling those that if elected President, he will turn Washington the different way up and make huge adjustments. The President is barely one guy or woman human beings! this is the skill to get a hundred Senators and 435 Congressman to agree that makes a powerful President. you do no longer initiate via telling them to get actual jobs and quit their capacity. you're dreaming.

It's simply because these people see the futility of what is this war (actually, it's a conflict because Congress never declared war as mandated by the Constitution) is all about.

This is the basis for Ron Paul's argument. All of the Candidates aren't following what the Constitution says and Ron Paul is the biggest advocate of safeguarding our rights as guaranteed by the Constitution.

Most of the troops are Republicans.
Most of the troops don't want to be in Iraq.

Ipso-facto.

I'm not surprised.

Sounds like the troops are supporting the real people that support them versus those who only offer machismo based rhetoric.
