Well, we ALWAYS have wildfires . . . every year. In fact, we have so many - we have a 'SEASON' for it. The only reason why our fires are receiving nationwide attention NOW is only because the neighborhoods that are burning just so happen to be the swanky, ritzy-ditzy 'glam' homes of the rich and famous. There are fires burning right now in NORTHERN CA, as well - in the Grass Valley area. But since no one famous lives there, they take 'back seat' to the Malibu fire.

I live in Los Angeles and the fires are in Valencia.
I have alot of relatives there and right now some are staying at my house for a little while.
Because of the fires it's about 95 degrees here.

I had to drive through them on my way to and from San Diego today....there were places where the fire was right next to the freeway and the smoke was so thick I think it was equivalent to smoking 6 cartons of cigarettes the smoke and that was just between temecula and rancho bernardo on interstate 15 if you want to look it up..... I probably live in one of the few area's of southern California that is not on fire.....do have a bit of smoke but not to heavy yet..... but it I drive in any direction it would not take me long to get to an area that is on fire....

I live 7 miles from the closest ones and they are burning in my old neighborhood. Mind you, there are several fires, and they are burning, in a U shape around the LA basin. It is hot right now. the sky is black and orange at night, and in the day, it is a deep ugly gray with sun poking out and it feels like an inferno, if hell was indeed hot, it would be LA right about now.

I think I'm really glad I live in Pennsylvania. We have family there, but they are way up north past San Francisco. It's pretty scary.
