We had been at a charity ball, so we were dressed in formalwear. It was a beautiful spring night, so I suggested we stop off on my highrise rooftop before going in for the night. There was supposed to be a meteor shower, and I wanted to see some shooting stars. So, there we were, just the two of us, with the magnificent Chicago skyline as a backdrop, the stars twinkling above, dressed to the nines, when he dropped to one knee, pulled the ring from his pocket and asked me to marry him. It was perfect!

You left out a 3rd option - - "How did she propose to you? She worked 2nd shift in the OB delivery room. I picked her up one Fri nite after work. She had a really bad day, lost several patients. She didn't feel like going out, just wanted me to take her home. I talked her into getting Italian and going to my place. She somehow dumped her whole plate down the front of her blouse & skirt, started crying, ran into bathroom to rinse out clothes and threw them in tub of cold water. She came out wearing one of my shirts. I was still on hands and knees wiping up marinara sauce. I told her we would just share my dinner. She was crying, saying I was sooo sweet to her, yada yada. Then she sorta said "I'm ready to get married, how about you?" I replied, "Yeah, I guess I am too." She said, "Is THAT all you have to say about it?" I replayed the previous in my head and asked, "Was that a proposal?" "Yes, I guess it was." I got up off the floor, kissed her bigtime, and said "YES!!!!" We were married 2 days later on the beach at sunrise with our friends, flowers, and a gallon of Ripple wine. We had only dated 5 weeks, but we just knew. That was 41 wonderful (mostly) years ago.

I had gone to a friend's house. She was driving me back to my car and pulled into this parking lot near my hubby and I's special place. He had candles and rose pedals and even had warm clothes for me because it was cool that evening and I had shorts on. He sang a song to me called "From Here to Eternity," then he got on one knee and asked me to marry him. Then we prayed together and had time to dance and drink wine he had brought.
He did a good job. So romantic!!

For a man you just ask the question, will you marry me.
There is not much you can say or ask.
