Sit down with them and have a non-confrontational talk with them. You shouldn't be forced into doing something you don't want to do in order to please someone.

Think about all the good times you used to have playing softball; think about it as "retirement."

yay, i am probably going to have to go through the same thing. i am a senior and i don't really want to play after highschool unless its on a scholarship(probably not going to happen). i have already started to hint about it. i think i will probably just say to them that i don't want to play because i am trying to focas on college. it's going to be really hard for me to do this, because my dad has put in alot of time with me, he has caught me since i was in the 4th grade. so i think he might be a little disappointed, but he will probably understand. i think he will miss the competition and getting to go to games and watch me play, but at the same time i think i will miss it to. but it's for the better, and thats what matters.

i hope it all works out.

Just tell them, it's best to be honest and up front about things, explain to them why you don't want to play any longer, give them good solid reasons. They'll understand.

Tell your parents that it is not your sport and certainly not your life. Your parents should have dreams for you but not dreams that will control you.

Try replacing it. It might soften the blow if you explain you want to try other activities, too.

tell them that you seriously want to talk to them, sit down together, and tell them, hopefully they will understand.
