I have a 9 month old and my doctor gave me what she admitted to be an unnecessary episiotomy. I've tried multiple times to have vaginal intercourse with husband and have succeeded once but I hurt at the point of my scar very very bad afterward and haven't tried again since. It's been about a month. I'm concerned that I healed wrong or something. Does anyone have any advice other than to go to the doctor. I can't go to the doctor until we get health insurance again which could be a few months. Also would like to know if others have experienced this.

Use lots of lubrication, maybe even some massage oils. Have your husband massage the area gently before trying to have sex. Also try holding a warm wet washcloth to the area before sex. Good luck.

P.S. I would get a new doctor.

I'm sorry you are having such problems. I had two cuts with my episiotomy and I still tore all the way (4th degree tears). My doctor stitched me up very well and I healed wonderfully. Even though you are waiting for insurance, I would at least give your doctor a call. Since she did the stitching she might see you for free or a very small fee. Good luck!

The first few times you have sex - or more - after you have an episiotomy, it will be very uncomfortable, even hurt. This is normal.

You've got to go slow and easy, and use plenty of lubricant. Don't worry...you will get back to normal.

Congratulation's on your new baby, there are several products in drug stores that will ease your vaginal pain. My wife had the same problem, look for the product right for you! Hopefully you will be able to have intercourse again!

Hope i could help

It is probably still tender. Make sure there is a lot of lubricant during inercours.
If you go back to the doc and they still don't seem to be helping you, go somewhere else.
