Casualties interior the early years of Vietnam have been extremely low because of the fact particularly some the scuffling with at that factor develop into against South Vietnamese insurgents. After the Tet Offensive, the regularly occurring North Vietnamese military began doing further and extra of the scuffling with, which brought about larger casualties for the U.S. in case you divide fifty seven,seven-hundred human beings who died via 15 (the form of years from 1961-1975), you get an user-friendly of three,847 in line with 300 and sixty 5 days, this is greater suitable than we've suffered in Iraq because of the fact the commencing up of the conflict.

It's really hard to make a comparison because of the length of Vietnam & the cost of things today compared to the 60's & 70's!
The U.S. was in Vietnam from 1965 to 1975, officialy! We sent a total of 3 million troops to serve there of which 58,000 died, 2,000 missing, 305,000 were wounded! We spent 120 Billion dollars. In 1973 the Paris Peace Accord was signed & we started to pull our troops, the last U.S. troops left April 30th, 1975.
We have spent approximately 454 Billion as of Sept., 2007. Our deaths are fast approaching 4,000. We & our allies have sent 300,000 troops of which 98% were U.S. & U.K.

As far as casuaties?
Iraq doesn't even compare to Vietnam.
As far as costs?
Due to inflation and technology, I wouldn't doubt this war costs more than Vietnam.

86,000 American were killed in Vietnam. At the current rate, it would take over 20 years to get to that point in Iraq. As for costs, the Vietnam war cost a lot more in terms of percentage of GDP. And if you don't like comparing GDP percentages, it's also true in terms of constant dollars.
