I have a 99 GMC Envoy that I swear is a lemon. We are constantly putting money into it only to have something else go wrong. It is never less than $500 to repair. Anyway, now the key will not come out of the ignition when the car is turned off. Also the heater goes from hot to cold, hot to cold as it is blowing out. Sometimes all the interior lights will come on for no reason. The exact thing happened about a year ago and we paid over $800 for a computer chip, which was supposed to take care of the problem. Anyone have any ideas? This is our only car and we still owe $4,000 on it, but it has already cost us 2,000 this year. HELP!!!!

It is a stupid Trucklet and the people around it are under it's influence. First off how the heck do you owe $4,000 on a 9 Year old truck? I am Sorry :-( Interior light may be turning on because the drivers side door hinge is worn out or a door is out of adjustment. Check for hinge wear just barely open the door and grab the bottom of the door and lift up does the door have slack in the hinge or does it leak air at the front top of the door? The ingnition key has an emergency release have the locksmith or mechanic show how to release the key. The interlock shift cable that has slipped or wear in the lock assembly is preventing removal of the key . And Vacuum Leak is a likely cause to your heater problem If you can make the heat go to the windshield under full throttle.

When did you buy it? Sounds like it was a "Salvage" from a bad accident that someone put bad together, Not Every Well!

1; Key: Key Cylinder Maybe. If you can remove the trim from the column you may be able to remove the Link Rod that runs from the key cylinder to the ignition block. Remove the rod and then turn the key, if it comes out then it's just an adjustment problem. If not you will need to replace the cylinder.

2; Check the hoses from the Water Pump to the Heater Core & Back to the Block! Sounds like they need to be Replaced. Replace the Hot Water Valve at the same time (Valve Controls Warm Water/Coolant to the Core). Back Flush Core to make sure it's Clean & has a Good Flow.

3; On this one..... The chip should last 3 to 7 Years, If it is the chip again something is shorting it out! Get it to a "Good Auto-Electric Shop", discrib the problem and let them trace it. (2or 3 day job is not unreasonable to trace everything!)

The heater problem may be due to a vacuum leak. The controls for the heater are controlled by vacuum. When you give it gas vacuum drops and may close off the flow of hot water to the heater core and when you let up on the gas there is more vacuum and there's enough to open the water flow. See if you can find a leak.

Only cars bought new, still under warranty, that have been brought back for the same problem 3 times without being fixed are lemons. Not used 8 year old cars. That out of the way we are left with this, you owe $4,000 on a car that would sell for $6,000 once fixed. Fix it, sell it, get something you are happier with.

I'm sorry man but you got jipped

i think your best bet would be to sell it somehow

and try to buy a similar car that you know is good

and if you are gonna buy another chip ir something

try to get it with a lifetime warrenty

you should have had the vehicle checked out before you bought it, especially if they didn't give you a warrenty on it. I would try to trade it in. sorry can't be considered a lemon when it over 7 years old

Can you trade it in??? If not take it to Midas or somewhere where they're nationally known for great car repairs, because whomever you're taking your car to for repairs is ripping you off!!!!!!!!!!!!!
