If you know your answer, just say it out. Why must you give him / her a puzzled look. Even if he or she is very old and educated and you are very small, if you know the answer just give it a good shot. If you are already very old and he or she is very small, you too should go into details and explain. This will be de done with the help of a map or if possible the computer where by you can searcch for the world map and point out in detail where the respective countries and the equator is. Then you can go on to answer more questions on Geography.

Answer than Germany is not near China and it is north of the equator.

"near" is such a relative term. I mean compared to where say, pluto is, Germany is practically on top of China! But I mean they really aren't THAT near each other...define near.

And Germany is definitely "above" the equator. If north is above.

Depends who's asked you, and in what context.

It could be a question about truth tables from a book on logic, for example.
