Mythbusters answered this question
------------------------------------------------------------

Myth Description: Will a bull charge a red flag due to color alone?

MythBusters on the bust: Tory, Grant, and Kari

Hypothesis: ----

Procedure/Experimental Design: First, the build team put 3 flags: red, blue, and white in a bull ring. The bull ignored them, so they made the blue one move. The bull went after that. Then, they made soft dummies of themselves and made each one a different color: red, blue, or white. They put these in the ring. The bull ignored them, so Grant made the blue move. The bull attacked it. As a final test, Tory (voluntarily) went into the ring dressed entirely in red. He didn't move, but there were others running around in the ring. The bull went after the others instead of Tory.

Results: The bulls tended to be more attacted to movement than color.

Conclusion: The color had nothing to do with where the bull went.

Busted or Not Busted: ---- Busted

As previous answers say, bovines (bulls and cows) are color blind. What they are attacking is movement. A moving red, green, or blue cape will get the same reactions. If you do not move when the bull first sees you, he, as a general rule, will not attack. So, a bunch of idiots running like mad (the Running of the Bulls) will drive them nuts.

no, bulls are color blind in the red spectrum. They orient on the movement. The red is vry flashy and makes for a good show to the crowd, plus can help hide blood if the bulfighter gets gored.

In a bullfight the bull reacts to the movement of the cape, not the color red

No, it's the movement that attracts it, not the color. Bulls are colorblind. The capes are red to hide blood spatter.

No. The bull reacts to the movement of the Matador. That is why they react to the Matador brandishing and waving things.

No, bulls are colorblind, the only reason they attack when someone waves a red piece of cloth is because the waving annoys them.

No like most animals they see things in black and white and grays. When the red flag is waved in front of them it is the waving of the flag that angers them not the colour
