According to treaty, the Great War (First World War) ended on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. This date and time is recognised internationally as being the Hour of Remembrance.
If you factor in the various time-zones, you will see that there is essentially a remembrance service occurring throughout the whole 24 hours of that day.
