I think it should be legal just as much as alcohol. Alcohol makes people un-aware of things going on, as marijuana is a controlled substance, thats more safe.
there are many pro's and cons to this, and it is a widely discussed subject, but what are you thoughts?

Yes it should be legalized.
I do it on occasion, but just sort of tend not to smoke.
I feel very strongly about legalizing because my best friend sometimes takes Xanax for anxiety, but found that marijuana works much better. She even got her 60 year old aunt to quit Xanax for it! So much better than a pill with x's in its name.
It just grows from the ground, and you're right about the comparison with alcohol as far as the law goes. You can get trashed but not light it up. Strange and unfair.

Marijuana should be legalized. A lot of people are going to experiment with it. Teenagers are going to be less likely to do it if it's legal anyways... Marijuana is DEFINITELY less harmful than alcohol and cigarettes. Why else would it be such a big issue over "should marijuana be legalized?"
It's legal in other places.

Marijuana has more pro's than con's. I can't say the same for alcohol/cigarettes. It's a proven fact that marijuana has health benefits.

I think as long as you don't DEVOTE YOUR LIFE TO IT, and get too involved in it, it's okay. I've done it before, but it's not a constant activity for me. I find it to be just a little harmless fun thing to do with my friends when the occasion calls for it. People just make a big deal out of it, because its ILLEGAL.

Yes and No and here's why, if you had the majority of the population that are now drinking alcohol, getting drunk and driving, sometimes causing accidents with deadly consequences and mayhem....where some were relaxing smoking marijuana, chilling out with all their intellectual faculties, knowing better than to drive after consuming a beer or two, what will the justice system, attorney's do for blood money to litigate these drunk driving cases and needless death's on the highway? For those of you that say weed smokers cannot safely drive, better think again! Truth is and Nascar did not like it , the late Tim Richmond drove high on weed during his races! He died off the track from AIDS according to Nascar! His winning percentage rivalled anyone on the track at that time! Alcohol when used in conjuction with driving on the roadways is a receipe for disaster, but profitable for those that sell alcohol and those that make a living in the courtroom off others misfortunes and tragedies! If a person drank beer and smoked weed and had an accident, the weed would be blamed as everybody know's, just as a Budweiser spokesman would say...."had the person not been smoking dope and instead just spending all their paycheck on our beer, he would have possibly made it home safely regardless of being drunk to argue and abuse his wife and kids in a drunken rage our product intends you to be in after drinking our products he is hooked on, in a complete state of alcoholism of which we and our friends in government whole-hearted approve of and support to take place nationwide to support big business at the cost of the well being and safety of the highway and American public as a whole! The truth is not always pretty!

Yes I think it should be legal! Let the liquor board control it. Put tax on it like alcohol and tobacco. That tax money goes towards education. And If pot was legal it would make it easier for people who have debilitating diseases and chronic pain to get it. There have been more deadly car crashes involving alcohol and hardly any where weed was involved. But somehow booze is permitted.
And yes, I am a pot smoker. I'm going on a 25 year habit.

merely positioned, doing so could be redundant. How can one propose the liberty to do some thing as a civil suitable on a similar time as concurrently banning yet another civil suitable. additionally, i might argue that many "religious" wars have been brought about via the misinterpretation of religious textual content textile. many religious scripture the two advocates non-violence or states to allow the respective deity cope with sinners. subsequently, wars finished interior the call of religion are by using a lacking coaching interior the receptive religions coupled with a deep seated hatred in direction of a undeniable team of persons. No I don't think it should be legalised.

But.... I think it should be decrimanalised, because then Govts would be able to regulate the amounts that people can smoke or grow and we would have better control over teen usage.

Instead of fines that don't get paid, which can and do result in first time offenders ending up inside for a minor offence like non payment of fines, we could set up limits.

Don't jump down my throat tho, I use to smoke the ganja!

Yes I do. Our country was founded with the help of hemp and marijuana as a staple to the economy.

i think it should be legalized for economic and environmental reasons.

Im not a pothead although ive tried it and i think that it would be an incredible source of power, fuel, clothing paper, oxygen and many other things,

The governmnet will never do it because oil, tabacco and other crap wins when it comes to money .. they dont care about the planet.

Of course it should be legal the waste of resources spent on eliminating it could be spent in better places and legalizing it would supply the government with extra cash two birds with one stone. The argument is that it would show that the government approves of this substance but the government doesn't approve of lots of stuff that people do but freedom allows them to do. As far as I'm concerned it's unconstitutional to criminalize Mary Jane and I don't use it anymore.

it is an old debate,.....but i think if it was legal, and controlled by the state, it would not change the reality of what is taking place now,.....and, as for the taxes that could be made by the sale of the product,.....well i think it could be a wind fall,.....and for sure the price would go down, as it would take the illegality from it,.....and think of the savings we could have from not incarcerating every one who gets busted from having possession,.....in my opinion the war on drugs has been a phony war,.....it is just a money making operation for the counties, the state, and the feds,.....

I believe criminalizing drug use is good for the economy. It creates jobs in law enforcement and shovels huge amounts of funding from the federal Govt to the State Govt.'s
I live in Alaska and Marijuana is legal here. We loose millions in federal funding due to non-enforcement of this substance.
Legalizing weed and then taxing it would not benefit economy nearly as much. The jobs lost would financially decimate a large section of our population.
