Alcatraz has been closed since the 60's. It is now only a museum where tourists go.
In all prisons, they have work details like doing laundry, growing crops etc. Library work is the preferred. Off time most are lifting weights and body building. Playing drop the soap is popular too. A lot of inmates spend lots of time playing jailhouse attorney and conning other inmates out of cigarettes, dope, homemade hootch and financial deposits. If he's not well aligned to Aryan Brother, Mexican Mafia or one of the Black gangs, he's someone's girlfriend. Even John Gotti was an Aryian's girlfriend in prison. He was also paying $4000 a month for protection. When he quit paying he got shanked by a Black gang. The price rose to $5000 a month protection.
You can get information about bad conduct and work assignments as well as transfers and hearings, but not other activities.

In Az they watch a lot of TV. Many have jobs(work crews, kitchen, clerks and so on. Some go to school. In AZ if an inmate cannot pass a standardized test above 8th grade they must go to school. Many also prep for the GED, some counseling groups are available, drug, sex, and other counseling. There are classes on employability and family relations. Time is on their side, so the busier they are the less time they have doing undesirable things.

You can learn a lot of things from NYS Department of Correctional Service page.
We have a specific schedule for each person and also general for everybody.
Inmates must work, go to school, learn new professional trades, they all have to receive high school diploma.
They work in shops producing goods for the entire correctional systems. They work on the farms, plants that are belong to the System, etc.
Based on the crime they all must attend Guidance classes
(sex affender classes, drug-rehab, etc)

I used to work at a juvenile jail and I can tell you what they did.
They woke up, got dressed, ate breakfast, went to school, ate lunch, went to back to school, spent time in their main room either watching TV or reading (this was during shift change), took showers, went to dinner, came back to their main room and did their chores, did an activity, had visiting time (if they had a visitor, & went to bed where they could read until lights out at 10pm sharp. in between this time they may get a visit from their probation officer or lawyer.

Per my volunteer prison training, a prison is just like a self sustaining community. There are people doing things at all hours. If you are looking for a specific persons schedule, you would have to ask that person.
For example, they all have different jobs which include kitchen duties, cleaning, trades, etc..
They all have different free time activities, athletics, church, school, crafts, etc...

I do not know about in the state of Texas, or currently, but the following site shows a schedule of Alcatraz inmates:
http://www.alcatrazhistory.com/daily.htm
PS: You could always subscribe to one of those prison penpals, so that you can learn what their schedule may be, first hand.

Yes, they do this in many countries under the name of Big Brother. It's quite gratifying watching society's misfits going about their daily business of self-promotion. You can even vote for who should get out first.

If they are in jail, they sit in their cell all day long.
In prison they might have some job or activities.
There is no web site to check up on anyone.

i have no experience but i think its basiclly just sitting in a cell... and when not in the cell, making sure you don't drop the soap.....
of course they get some yard time and i'm sure they have chores they gotta do too.....
they tell you (as a criminal), to reflect and learn from the crime that was commmited. but i think its the last thing on their minds to most of them....
they're probably thinking more... how did i get caught....
